The North East Region are looking to field a team of fencers for the Senior Winton Cup Competition being held on the weekend of 8th 9th July 2023 in Nottingham.

There will be sabre, foil and epee, women’s and men’s teams. Up to 4 places in each.
The Senior Winton Cup is an annual team competition that has run for over 70 years and set up by the Winton brothers, Bobby and Nicholas.

Eligibility
• Member of a NE Fencing club or NE university or Born in the North East Region
• and
• Over 14yrs of age (Those under 18yrs must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
• Compete level British Fencing membership
Venue:
Lee Westwood Sports Centre, Clifton Campus, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham
General Structure
The event will be run over 2 days, fencing with up to 11 teams from other regions. Each team will fence with another region’s weapon team for up to 5 hits per bout and 9 bouts per match. The aim is to win as many matches against each team across all the weapons.
This is a fun event for experienced and up and coming fencers. This is a great chance to work within a team, while representing the North East Region!
Selection
We want as many eligible fencers to apply. If there are more than 4 fencers apply for a weapon, then the NE Regional Sub Committee will decide based on National Rankings and or any recent results.

Please note:
• The Entry Fee will be paid by NE Region
• All Fencers must be members of British Fencing compete level
• Fencers are responsible travel and accommodation.
• Final selections will be made after the deadline and applicants will be notified by the 25th May
