8 Dec by Beth Cranston-Selby

This weekend was the veteran European circuit event in Munich. The sabre events saw Beth and Chris Cranston-Selby and Duncan Rolands take to the piste in this 3rd event of the season.

Beth in the cat.2 sabre had to defeat fellow Brit to reach the semifinals loosing to German World Champion team medalist Gunilla Graudins to secure a bronze.

Chris was undefeated in the poule round and was ranked 1st going in to the direct elimination. He had smooth run to the final to meet last year’s winner again, Paul Preis from Germany. Both exchanged hits in a close bout but Preis edged ahead and won 10-8. Chris took silver and his second medal of the season!

Duncan Rowlands is pushing hard into his new cat 3 status for a 3rd event of the year. Duncan beat Olaf Ziebell in the L16 then met the European no 2 Alberto Chios ITA who went on to the next round. Duncan finished 5th overall.
