May is always the time for the European Veteran Championships and this year saw the individual event taking place in Plodiv, Bulgaria. Three fencers from Laszlo’s Fencing were representing Great Britain, Anton Pollard, Chris and Beth Cranston-Selby.

Beth, in the V2 women’s sabre event had an unbeaten poule round, only loosing 5 hits against her 5 opponents! This placed her second in the direct elimination round who then went on to beat RAMELLA PAIRIN Alessandra 10-6 and HORI Catherine 10-8. Into the bronze medal round and then met Italian GANASSIN Martina who was fired up after loosing to Beth on home turf last time and powered her way to win 10-5!

Chris Cranston-Selby went into the competition as 3rd seed but finished 12th in V4 men’s sabre after a frustrating elimination round. But his position meant he moved up the European Veteran rankings to 2nd place!

Next year the championships change to a team event taking place in Madrid 2026
